2024 Recession Forecast. The world economic forum’s latest chief economists outlook finds that just over half of chief economists anticipate the global economy to weaken this. Global growth is projected to remain unchanged in 2024 and strengthen modestly in 2025, with inflation returning to target in most countries by the end of 2025.

There is now a 35% chance that the global economy will enter a recession by the end of 2024, and a 45% chance that it will do so by the end of 2025. By the time the recession begins, however, fed officials will be confident they are on the right path and will likely hold interest rates level through most of 2024.
